Made by EA, Electronics Arts, in 1997 this was an upgrade to the original Need for Speed and second in the NFS franchise that’s still in existence today. The artificial intelligence of computer opponents is superb, as they are always trying to cut you off or sneak around you in interesting places. The interface and menus are very well designed (unlike in some other racing games where one seems to face an endless stream of poorly-organised loosely-connected menus) and are very attractive to look at. You can control volume and sound quality and graphics detail, and you can load and save tournaments and replays.
